Our first year of training provides an understanding of 14 of the world’s religions including Earth Based to Eastern, Abrahamic to New Thought, and the energy that each religion contains.
We feel it is not enough to just study the tenets of each religion, but to ground that with the energetic components of chant, song and meditation.
We also offer an introduction to various types of psychology and Spiritual Counseling and an array of lectures designed to broaden the students’ understanding of such subjects as Death and Dying, Addiction and the Family Dynamic, Non-Violent Communication, Energy Healing and others. There is also a strong emphasis on ritual; each student will create and demonstrate understanding of individual and group ritual.
We feel it is of the utmost importance for the student minister to work on her/him-self as well, and there is a powerful structured format for deep personal self reflection and personal development set up for that purpose. The texts that are required and the spiritual reflection papers that are written as part of the first year homework assignments help to deepen that commitment to self work in preparation for ordination. Part of our movement towards wholeness as Interspiritual Ministers is to clear as much of whatever personal ‘baggage’ each student brings, in order for them to be able to minister to others without becoming ‘triggered’ by another’s issues.
We are delighted to have our New Vision Space in Elmsford, NY, 30 minutes from NYC in Lower Westchester County.
